Align with Physical Space #
Description #
Prompts the end-user to align the virtual scene to their physical environment. Applicable only in AR mode on tablets and headsets (HMDs). There are 3 possible alignment mechanisms that the author can assign.
- 2 Points – The author defines 2 distinct points on the virtual model that will be used for alignment. The end user must then select the same two anchor points on the corresponding physical objects. All devices are supported. On tablets, a virtual target is placed on screen to guide the end-user in the selection process. On headsets, the end-user needs to touch the points with the controller.
- Marker-based – The author places a virtual marker (such as QR Code) in the 3D virtual scene, corresponding to the location of the physical marker. The end user then aims the device’s camera at the physical marker and the virtual 3D scene will be automatically aligned. Only Android tablets and phones are currently supported in this alignment mode.
- Place on surface – The author defines a point on the virtual model that should be coincident to whatever physical surface the end-user selects (often this will be the bottom or back of the model). When an end-user selects a horizontal or vertical surface, the virtual model will be aligned to that surface. All devices are supported. A virtual target supports the end user in selecting a suitable surface.
Properties #
Start Time
The time (in seconds) when the action will activate.
The Start Time is relative to the timeline in which the action occurs (not the absolute time from when the experience starts).
Alignment Type
Choose the desired alignment type
2 Points – virtual and physical worlds are aligned based on a 2 point selection.
Marker-based – virtual and physical worlds are aligned based on automatic marker detection
Place on surface – virtual scene is placed on the physical surface
- 2 Points
Movement Anchor
Anchor Point #1 – used to lock the virtual scene to the physical environment
Rotation Anchor
Anchor Point #2 – used to rotate the virtual scene to achieve final alignment to the physical environment
Timeline(s) on Completion
Defines which timeline(s) will be loaded once the action is completed.
- Marker-based
Marker
Choose which marker is being used for alignment
Timeline(s) on Completion
Defines which timeline(s) will be loaded once the alignment is completed
Timeline(s) on Failure
Defines which timeline(s) will be loaded if the marker is not detected after 20 seconds
- Place on surface
Center Point
The point on the virtual model that be placed on the selected physical surface
Timeline(s) on Completion
Defines which timeline(s) will be loaded once the alignment is completed.
